For today's class activity, we required to print out Campbell's (1999) article on the topic of 'Staying alive: Evolution, culture and women's intrasexual agression'
We were divided into our respective groups and were required to identify:
What were our main problems that we were expected to face when reading the article?
We realized that the problem for our group would be time and vocabulary.
How do we overcome our reading difficulties?
We decided to divide the subtopics of the article equally among the group members. Afterwards, we would share among the group members on what each member has read about. As for vocabulary, we decided to look up for the definitions online.
Each group were then required to share their important points on the article. Next, we had to read up on the article's review and look for points that supported and were against our main points from the article, so that we could form our own opinion.
This activity was useful as it helped me identify ways to overcome the problems I would normally face when reading an article. The problems can be solved through group dicussions, making notes and looking for reviews of the article we have chosen. I find this very bit of information very useful especially for the discussion part of my thesis.
